About Me
Artist Statement
Nature has always been my greatest teacher. Whether it’s the shifting light on a hibiscus petal or the intricate pattern of a croton leaf, I’m drawn to the quiet beauty and resilience of the natural world.
After 25 years as an art educator, I now channel that same sense of curiosity and wonder into my own creative practice. I primarily work in watercolor, a medium that allows me to explore light, texture, and emotion with delicate precision. Many of my botanical paintings are inspired by the plants I grow or have grown in my own garden, subjects I’ve come to know intimately. I approach them almost like portraits, capturing not just their form, but their presence and vitality.
In addition to painting, I create mosaics using repurposed materials. This work stems from a desire to honor nature not only as inspiration but through sustainable practice. I enjoy the contrast between the fluidity of watercolor and the tactile process of mosaic, both offer unique ways to celebrate color, movement, and organic form.
My art is a reflection of the joy I find in the natural world and a desire to share that joy with others. I hope each piece invites viewers to pause, connect, and find a bit of beauty and calm for themselves.
