Inspired by my love of snorkeling and the colorful world beneath the surface, this handcrafted clown triggerfish mosaic celebrates one of the ocean’s most striking tropical fish.
The clown triggerfish is known for its bold patterning—dramatic black and white markings, bright yellow accents, and unexpected touches of orange and blue. I was drawn to the way its markings feel almost like a living mosaic already, making it a perfect subject to recreate in ceramic tile.
Each tile was carefully cut and placed by hand to capture the fish’s shape, movement, and distinctive pattern. The deep blue background suggests the layered movement of water, while the textured reef-like area adds a sense of place and depth.
Framed in white, this original mosaic brings a fresh coastal feel to any room. It would be a beautiful accent for a beach house, bathroom, sunroom, coastal home, or any space that celebrates ocean life.

This mosaic is made from hand formed tile and recycled ceramic tile. This piece is safe to hang outdoors an a sheltered area in non freezing weather. It measures 10x16". It will be carefully packaged.
