This mosaic was inspired by the quiet beauty of a bird standing still among tall grasses—almost hidden, yet completely present. The American bittern has a natural ability to blend into its surroundings, and I was drawn to that sense of stillness and camouflage.

Working with pieces of ceramic tile, I built up the form slowly, letting the shapes and tones of the materials guide the composition. The vertical lines of the reeds echo the bird’s posture, creating a rhythm that feels both structured and organic.
