This painting was inspired by seeing the Alfanzina Lighthouse and the Benagil caverns from a boat while traveling in Lagos, Portugal. The caverns and cliffs were amazing, awe inspiring so I just had to paint them.
I painted this from memory and photos back at our rental, focusing more on the feeling of being there than on perfect detail. The loose watercolor and bright turquoise colors captured how alive and windswept the scene felt.
