This painting came from my fascination with watching reef fish move in and out of coral, especially the way a clownfish seems to pause and look right back at you. I loved that moment of curiosity, bright, alert, and full of personality.

I used loose watercolor washes and bold color to capture the feeling of being underwater, with coral shapes, distant fish, and soft movement all around. The clownfish’s warm orange stands out against the cooler blues and grays, giving the piece a sense of depth and quiet energy.
