Inspired by an evening walk through my South Florida neighborhood, this watercolor captures one of those moments that makes you stop and look up.
Dark clouds drift across the sky as the moon emerges through breaks in the clouds. Palm trees sway below while an osprey glides overhead, silhouetted against the fading light. The dramatic contrast between light and shadow creates a sense of mystery and calm that often accompanies the transition from day to night.
Many of my paintings begin with simple observations made while walking. On this particular evening, the sky seemed to change by the minute, revealing layers of clouds, moonlight, and color. The osprey passing overhead completed the scene and became the focal point of the painting.
