This painting came from spending time really looking at an orchid up close—the curves of the petals, the subtle yellow at the center, and the quiet elegance of the flower itself. I loved the contrast of the white against the moody tones of green in the background.

I am attracted to the abstract quality of a zoomed in view. You can probably tell I am a big fan of Georgia O'Keeffe. Paining flowers makes me pause and enjoy the beauty of nature.
