One morning, I looked out the window and was surprised to see a yellow-bellied sapsucker visiting the feeder. These birds are a rare sight in my yard, so I stopped to watch and take in all the beautiful details of its black-and-white markings and touches of red.

I wanted to capture that unexpected moment and the excitement of seeing a bird I do not often encounter. The rich blue background and textured tree branches bring attention to the bird and create a bold, lively composition.

This artwork celebrates the small surprises nature can bring when we take the time to look outside.
